The answer is yes. First you need to understand that a satellite receiver supplies D. The second thing is the typical Wineguard antenna amplifier will not pass the D. With this understanding, we can proceed with the modifications necessary to make the satellite system work with what the stock RV system provides. Refer to the diagram below for a block description of what is needed and the accompanying text of what is needed.
These are general instructions and youll have to adapt them to your specific installation. First you’ll need to get access to the rear of the antenna amp. To do this remove the screws connecting the wall plate to the wall. At point “A” in the diagram, you need cut the coax that is identified as “cable input” it should be identified on the antenna amp box. This is the cable that is wired to the outside connector for connecting a cable TV cable.

Verified Are you using a tripod type dish that sits on the ground? The dish will be on a table with a stand to lock in satellite signals RV Mechanic: On some of these dishes they have dip switches inside of them and they need to be set to the correct provider, once that is set up and you turn the TV and receiver on you have to go through the steps of setting the programming up, normally it is called checking the switch. So it depends on what sat.
I may be able to help you more if you can give me the make and model of the Sat

So some family members are coming in for the weekend and you want them to stay in the RV. And like most of us, we need our TV but the RV has a batwing antenna that can only receive a few channels.
How can you wire the RV so you can hook up a satellite receiver and keep the family peace all in one fell swoop? This mod will help you get connected and stay in the will. This connector receptacle is generally used for connecting to cable service provided at an RV park for example. Although the typical cable wiring type in your RV is RG59, which is fine for satellite signals over short distances, the problem lies in the RV antenna signal booster.
The signal booster, located in the antenna, helps amplify the signals received by the rooftop antenna. The boosted signal terminates at the wall plate where the TV cable connection and volt receptacle are located.

Not resolved 1 comment We recently purchased a new 5th wheel by Keystone. In the brochure it was listed as standard option “Satellite Prep”. Keystone Rv – Appliance Turns out, only the main living area is prepped for satellite or cable. While looking at RV’s prior to purchase, our salesman and us had a lengthy discussion about why we were interested in this unit, mainly the back bunk area for traveling with our grandchildren, the convenience of them having a separate space, and how we traveled with a tailgater satellite system for them to use.
Never was it mentioned that the rv was not set up for satellite in the bedrooms. We found this out after purchase when the tech did our walk-thru. Needless to say I was confused and thought he was misinformed.

You must also purchase a satellite antenna dish or dome to capture the signal, and buy or lease the receiver that processes it for your TV. The receiver for the satellite signals is extra and may be leased from the satellite provider or purchased outright. Equipment may also be present in a used RV, but you still have to contract with a satellite TV service to utilize it.
Getting set up for RV satellite service can be frustrating—the local satellite dealers rarely know much about mobile satellite service for RVs and many will not work on them at all.

Surrey, British Columbia Canada Posts: I will be having a satellite dish installed on a permanent post and then cable connected to the exterior connection in the exterior control box. Can the satellite dish installer connect the dish cable to the connection in the exterior connection box and the TV receive signal? Or is there a separate cable connection from the satellite dish to be installed instead?
I have seen other different ways to install from other member and is confusing. Also, heard of a switch that needs to be switched from antena to satellite. Anyone know where this switch is located on a Alpine. Of course, if there is a separate cable installed for the satelite this may not be a issue. Appreciate any suggestions from members that have Alpine 5th wheels. Woody It sounds like your unit is pre-wired like mine is with an outside Satellite connector. Mine is in the basement hatch with the rest of the shut off values, city water connection etc.
So from your message I can’t quite understand if you have a satellite dish that is externally mounted to a post, or if the satellite dish is mounted to the roof of your unit. If it’s external, then run the coax cable from the satellite dish into the external Pre-wired outlet. It’s likely labelled as such, for satellite in your basement or perhaps even an outside outlet.
I recently purchased a 2009 Keystone Sprinter RV. It is satellite
We have a new Big Country. This is our second time out with it. We are attempting to set up our Directv Dish Satellite to the livingroom television. We have set all the azimuths, etc. Don’t know if there is a wiring problem inside the RV or what.
